Development of the pulse taumeter, which enabled the relaxation properties of luminescence to be studied with great sensitivity, made it possible to measure the relaxation time of individual, even relatively weak, lines of the luminescence spectra of uranium activated alkali and alkali earth metal fluorides. Preliminary data are presented on the relaxation spectra of samples of CaF/sub 2/- - U, SrF/sub 2/-- U, BaF/sub 2/-- U, LiF-- U, and NaF--U. (W.D.M.)
