EXTRACTION-PHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF NIOBIUM BY MEANS OF LUMOGALLION (in Russian)

The interaction of Nb with lumogallion was studied, and the spectrophotometric characteristics of the complex formed were investigated. It was established by the method of isomolar series that Nb interacts with lumogallion at a ratio of Nb: R = 1: 1. The mean value of the reaction equilibrium constant was found to be equal to 5.6. The lumogallion acid dissociation constants are pK/sub 1/ = 5.6 and pK/sub 2/ = 7.15. Citric and oxalic acids interfere with the determination of Nb. Tartaric acid does not interfere. Extraction of the reagent and its complexes with Nb, Ta, and Zr with nbutyl alcohol was studied, and a method for the determination of Nb in the presence of the above elements was developed. (auth)
