A scintillation chamber for filling with scintillating gases is designed which gives stable pulse heights. Quaterphenyl, used to shift the wavelength of the uv from the gas to longer wavelengths, is deposited on the outside wall of the quartz window, adjacent to the photomultiplier. The inside walls of the chamber are covered with magnesium oxide. After filling, the pulse heights decreased 0.6%/hr at 20 deg C, and after 60 hr, the diminution was only 0.2%/hr.
