Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4754609
Dogs and rats were fed a diet that contained fresh frozen shrimp, frozen shrimp held in storage for a minimum of 3 yr, radiation-processed shrimp held in storage for 3 to 5 yr, or recently irradiated shrimp held at 70 to 80 deg F for two months prior to use. Dogs maintained on a diet of old, radiation-processed shrimp for about 30 days showed abnormal thyroid activity. No conclusions were drawn as to the age of the shrimp as a factor in the thyroid abnormality. Hematologic, reproductive and pathologic data on the experimental animals are included. (C.H.)
