Energy spectrum of the photoneutrons from phosphorus
The energy spectrum of the photoneutrons from Pal emitted at 90 deg with respect to a collimated bremsstrahlung beam of Emax = 30 Mev is studied by means of nuclear emulsions. In the neutron spectrum a high-energy tail and a wide peak around 5.5 Mev show that other processes besides evaporation occur in the neutron emission. The direct interaction may account for about 30% of the emitted neutrons.
