The history and conditions surrounding Canada's nuclear energy program are reviewed. The organization of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, Atomic Energy Control Board, and Eldorado Mining and Refining Limited is outiined. Chalk River activities and facilities are described along with construction of the Whiteshell Nuclear Research Establishment. The Canadian effort in nuclear power production is compared with that of other countries. The design and development of the NPD and CANDU reactors are described, and drawings and pictures presented.
