RAPID NON-DESTRUCTIVE ANALYSIS FOR GOLD IN COPPER-GOLD MIXTURES BY NEUTRON ACTIVATION
An 11.95-mg mixture of copper-gold was neutron irradiated at a flux of 3 x 10/sup 11/ n/cm/sup 2//sec and counted using a well-type sodium iodide crystal attached to a 256-channel pulse-height analyzer. From both gamma energy and half life, gold was identified on the basis that, in the half-life range 1--10/ sup 2/ sec, there is no other nuclide having nearly the same gamma energy as gold-197.
