DECOMPOSITION OF TRITIUM-LABELLED ORGANIC COMPOUNDS

Journal Article · · Nature
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1038/197551a0· OSTI ID:4750181
Data are tabulated on the decomposition during storage of a number of tritium-labeled organic compounds at a variety of specific activities. All the compounds studied were radiochemically pure when first prepared and their subsequent rate of decomposition under various storage conditions was determined. Data are included on tritiated amino acids, nucleosides, purines and pyrimidines, steroids, and miscellaneous compounds. Results show that the decomposition of tritium-labeled compounds can be minimized by storing the compounds in a suitable solvent and below room temperatures. (C.H.)
