THE TENSILE PROPERTIES OF COLD-ROLLED AND ANNEALED HAFNIUM

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4749223
Equations relating tensile properties to the amount of cold reduction and testing temperatures are determined for iodide hafnium. Graphical presentations illustrating the effects of various heat treatments on the tensile properties of cold-reduced hafnium are included. The experimental work reveals a decrease in ductility as measured by elongation and reduction of area when heat treatments greater than 1652 deg F are employed. No corresponding change in strength values is noted. The information provided should aid in the selection of parameters for annealing iodide hafnium. (auth)
