FLIGHT TEST CRITERIA FOR RE-ENTERING NAP SYSTEM. Interim Report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4748332
Activities in a study to establish flight-test program criteria are reported. Study results are intended to be universal in application to nuclear auxiliary power systems (NAP) re-entry investigations. The SNAP 10A was selected as a representative system for study. Discussions are included concerning orbital decay, thermodynamic aspects, scaling, instrumentation, launch vehicles and sites, and reliability. Significant among interim conclusions reached is that a 300,000-ft re-entry altitude can be used. (J.R.D.)
