Effect of Irradiation on the Protein Metabolism of Animal Tissues (in Japanese)

Journal Article · · Radioisotopes (Tokyo)
Liver slices from rats that are x-irradiated with a wholebody dose of 500 r are incubated with C14-labeled glycine, and it is found that the radiation inhibits the glycine incorporation into desoxyribonucleoproteins and soluble protein fractions. Incorporation of T-labeled thymidine into the DNA of actively regenerating liver slices is found to be inhibited. The incorporation of amino acids into microsomal protein in cell-free liver systems is found to be unaffected by x-ray doses up to 5 kr. The PP-ATP exchange with amino acids, promoted by guinea-pig liver enzymes, is not inhibited up to 1 kr of x rays. (T.F.H.)
