THE EFFECT OF LOW DOSES OF POLONIUM ON INTESTINAL MICROFLORA OF DOGS AND SOME INDICES OF NATURAL IMMUNITY

Journal Article · · Federation Proc., Transl. Suppl.
OSTI ID:4748279
S>The subcutaneous injection of dogs with 0.01 mC/kg Po induced a subacute form of radiation sickness accompanied by marked changes in the intestinal microflora and in some other indices of natural immunity. The use of 0.001 mC/kg Po caused chronic radiation sickness, also accompanied by changes in the intestinal microflora and other indices of immunity. Abnormalities noted in the irtestine and other indices of reactivity were of the same character as the changes associated with the subacute and acute forms of radiation sickness, but they were less intense, varying with the severity of the particular case of radiation sickness.
