An ionization chamber with a radiation source is designed for detecting fluid traces carried by a carrier gas through a chromatographic column. The chamber comprises a hollow body with a cavity and an electrode mounted therein, the electrode being insulated from the body and connected to a high-tension supply source. The supply source is provided with screening means to prevent leakage currents to earth from its output terminals. A d-c amplifier and a resistor are provided for linearizing the output current of the ionization chamber. (D.L.C.)
