REACTOR INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL PROGRESS REPORT NO. 75

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4745953
In developmental work on the circulating-ball reactivity control, a value was designed which will permit selective operation between the shim and scram functions. Tests of a modified electromagnetic drive control activator and a rod-position sensor are described. In other work, a twoout-of-three logic circuit was constructed and a latching circuit was tested. Work on temperature sensors is reported in which yttria specimens of various densities were tested and a beryllia sensor was operated in air for 415 hrs. Work on high-temperature nuclear sensors included testing of fission counters to 1500 deg F, testing of fission counter components, and testing of d-c ionization chambers at 1000 deg F. The final status of the Monte Carlo computer programs and the auxiliary programs is presented. (J.R.D.)
