DECAY OF A NEW NUCLEIDE PROMETHIUM 153

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
Promethium-153 was investigated from the Sm/sup 154/( gamma p)Pm/sup 153/ reaction induced by 20-Mev bremsstrahlung. The activity was measured with beta and gamma scintillation spectrometers. The haif life of this nuclide was found to be 5.5 plus or minus 0.2 min, and the end point energy of the beta ray was found to be 1.65 plus or minus 0.05 Mev. Gamma rays of 0.125 and 0.180 Mev were also observed. The decay energy of this nuclide was found to be substantially lower than expected from a value extrapolated from the beta-decay energy system atics. (auth)
