Special Magnets for the Extraction of Secondary Particles from the Proton Synchrotron; AIMANTS SPECIAUX POUR L'EXTRACTION DES PARTICULES SECONDAIRES DU SYNCHROTRON A PROTONS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4742446
Two special magnets were constructed at CERN for a secondary particie beam having a maximum of 3 Bev/c and an emission angle of 6 deg . These magnets are excited by direct current and focus the particles at the same time that they leave. In the particular case of the A/sub 2/ beam where they have been employed they give a target image at approximately a meter distance from the edge of the second magnet output. The deflection angle of the first magnet is 9 deg and that of the second is 15 deg . The acceptance obtained is 3 x 10 /sup 4/ sterad. The chromatic dispersion in the image plane is approximately 19 mm/% dp/p. (tr- auth)
