SENSITIVITY OF BF$sub 3$ COUNTERS WITH SIMPLE PARAFFIN ARRANGEMENT (in German)

A BF/sub 3/ counter arrangement for the detection and measurement of fast neutrons was described. The counter works in the proportional range. Because of the smallness of the paraffin arrangement, the sensitivity of the device depends on the energy of the incident neutrons. The sensitivity was determined using the Li/sup 7/(p,n)Be/sup 7/, D(d,n)He/sup 3/, and T(d,n)He/sup 4/ reactions. The sensitivity curve obtained is given and shows that the sensitivity decreases only 13% between 1 and 5 Mev and 20% between 1 and 10 Mev. (J.S.R.)
