THE EFFECT OF A DEUTERON MACROBEAM ON GREYING OF HAIR
Technical Report

BS>Black mice were exposed to a deuteron macrobeam to assess the greying response from heavy primary cosmic ray particles. It was found that greying depends solely on a direct hit by the radiation on the bulb of the follicle. It was concluded that the heavy primary cosmic ray particles would be expected to cause greying of the hair. The result strengthens earlier conclusions indicating that these particles will cause very minor somatic damage in mammals. (auth)
