THE BACKWARD PEAK IN HIGH-ENERGY n-p SCATTERING

Journal Article · · Phys. Letters
It was pointed out that one meson( rature of the d ) exchange can lead indirectly to a narrow backward peak in n-p scattering at 2.04 and 2.85 Bev through interference with other contributions. When the contribution from single rature of the d /sup ction in DDT-C/ / exchange is comparable to the observed cross section, rapid variation in the cross section near 180 nif- may be expected, either from interference or simply from the rapid decrease of the single rature of the d /sup ction in DDT-C/ / terms. A narrow peak is just one of many possibilities. (C.E.S.)
