STRUCTURE IN THE PION-PROTON TOTAL CROSS SECTION BETWEEN 2 AND 3 Bev

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Letters
The total cross sections for rature of the d /sup ction in DDT-C/ / on protons in the energy range from 1.5 to 6 Bev were measured in a transmission experiment. The data were taken in small energy steps and with a statistical accuracy of about 1%. The results indicate two statistically significant and previously unreported pion-nucleon resonances, one in each of the two isotopic spin states. The resonances occur at 2.19 and 2.36 Bev with isotopic spins of 1/ 2 and 3/2, respectively. (C.E.S.)
