EMISSION AND SCATTERING OF $gamma$-QUANTA BY NUCLEI OF A SOLID IN THE PRESENCE OF A TIME-DEPENDENT EXTERNAL EXCITATION
A theory was developed for the emission and scattering of gamma quanta by nuclei of a solid in the presence of an external time-dependent excitation. The form of the emission and scattering spectra was calculated assuming that the external excitation is periodically dependent on time. It is shown that the presence of such excitation leads to the appearance of other Mossbauer lines in addition to the principal lines; in the scattering spectrum the principal line appears with observation at the Bragg angle. The angle at which the additional lines become visible depends on the wave vector of the lattice vibrations induced by the external excitation. The latter enables the frequency spectrum of the normal vibrations of the solid to be determined from the spectrum of the scattered gamma quanta. (auth)
