MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE CONCENTRATIONS OF RADIOACTIVE NUCLIDES IN AIRBORNE EFFLUENTS FROM NUCLEAR REACTORS
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4736254
The maximum permissible concentrations in air of various biologically significant radionuclides have been calculated for members of the public who live in the neighborhood of a nuclear power reactor. They have been calculated both for continuous exposure during routine reactor operation and also for emergencies resulting from reactor accidents. The recommendations are not intended to be used as normal health physics control levels but to serve as a guide to reactor designers. The problems of atmospheric diffusion are discussed and values for maximum permissible discharges or discharge rates are recommended so that the maximum permissible concentrations in air should not be exceeded.
