A means was provided for rapidly shutting down a reactor in the event of failure of normal control means and normal shutting down means. A reservoir containing neutron absorbent material in a form having fluid properties was located above the core. On the receipt of an operating signal the material would pass through a duct into the core of the reactor so as to cause shutdown. (C.E.S.)
