DETERMINATION OF ZIRCONIUM WITH HAFNIUM IN ZIRCON VIA PAPER CHROMATOGRAPHIC SEPARATION

Journal Article · · Chemist-Analyst
OSTI ID:4735677
The separation of zirconium and its associated hafnium from zircon is described. The zircon ore is opened in a classical manner and other elements are separated from zirconium and hafnlum by paper chromatography using the antipyrine- dioxane-nitric acid solvent system in which zirconium and hafnium show no movement. The zirconium and hafrium content of the isoiated zones is then determined by an ethylenediaminetetraacetate titration procedure. The mean value of the method is 45.73%. (P.C.H.)
