Retention in the Skeleton of Radiostrontium as influenced by Tetracycline

Journal Article · · Nature (London)

Experiments indicate that neither post-treatment nor simultaneous administration of tetracycline aids in the reduction of skeletal retention of strontium-85. A significantly reduced deposition was achieved by tetracycline when given prior to injection of strontium-85. Due to the pronounced affinity of tetracycline to bone tissue, it is believed that this reaction leads to the impairment of the mechanisms responsible for the retention of radiostrontium by bone.
