COPRECIPITATION OF SCANDIUM WITH CALCIUM OXALATE

Journal Article · · Bulletin of the Institute for Chemical Research, Kyoto University (Japan)
OSTI ID:4733055
The coprecipitation of Sc with Ca as oxalate was studied. Precipitation of Ca was carried out in a homogeneous precipitation system, in which dimethyl oxalate was decomposed to form oxalate ion. Homogeneous and logarithmic distribution coefficients were obtained by measuring radioactivity of Sc/sup 46/ used as a tracer, and by the chelatometric titration of Ca. Logarithmic distribution was followed at pH 2.0 st run. Concent 3.5, whereas near pH 4 homogeneous distribution was obeyed. It was optimum for the enrichment of Sc that Ca be precipitated at about 80 un. Concent 85% C at pH 2.5 to 3.0, and the precipitate be filtered after 2 or 3 hours. (auth)
