RADIATION HAZARDS IN PERSPECTIVE. Third Report of the Expert Committee on Radiation

Journal Article · · World Health Organ., Tech. Rept. Ser.
OSTI ID:4732840
Radiation hazards are considered in relation to other risks to human populations. It is pointed out that while severe damage and death have followed high-level radiation exposures many more injuries have been described as resulting from a variety of other toxic agents than from radiation. Expoaure to low doses of radiation is generally regarded as resulting in hereditary effects, and possibly in cancer and leukemia. Mutagenic effects of toxic substances have hardly been investigated.
