INVESTIGATION OF DIFFUSION OF CHARGE CARRIERS IN IONIZED GASES BY THE DIFFUSION WAVE METHOD (in Russian)

Diffusion coefficients of charged particles in ionized rarefied gases (H/ sub 2/, He, Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe) are measured by the diffusion wave method. For pressures between 0.03 to 1 mm Hg, magnetic fields up to 1.5 kOe, ion concentrations 10/sup 8/ to 10/sup 10/ cm/sup -3/, and electron temperature approximates 1 ev, the dependence of the transverse diffusion coefficient on magnetic field strength in most cases corresponds to the theory of pair collisions between the charged particles and neutral molecules.
