The prospects of utilizing refractory compounds as thermoelectrode material are presented. Some questions concernlng the manufacture of thermoelectrodes of homogeneous length from refractory compounds are discussed. On the basis of an analysis of the stability of the thermoelectric characteristics and resistance of refractory compounds in some aggressive media (air, Co, CO + N/sub 2/, fused metals), it was concluded that it is possible to manufacture high-temperature thermocouples from refractory compounds with one graduating characteristic for a set of material.
