  1. St. Petersburg Institute of Refractories (Russian Federation)
In the last ten years the St. Petersburg Institute of Refractories has been actively studying manufacturing methods and applications for powders of fused materials and items based on fused corundum, periclase, periclase-chromite, and baddeleyite. The directions of research were traditional for the institute, whose specialists have vast scientific and industrial experience in methods for producing fused materials of various origin and purity and in the production of a wide range of coarse fused refractory items and materials. Recent developments in the production of fused materials and items from them at the St. Petersburg Institute of Refractories are described and the prospects of fused refractories are analyzed.
