ABS>The possibility of using nitrous oxide for the chemical dosimetry of gamma -radiation was investigated for the purpose of determining the range of the dose measurement and the effect of the dose rate on the material. The experiments were carried out by exposing the nitrous oxide, sealed in a glass tube to the gamma -radiation of a Co/sup 60/ source, using a thermistor for determining the decomposition products, O + N. No rate dependence could be established in the dose range from 8.4 x 10/sup 3/ to 1.4 x 10/sup 6/ r/hr; neither was it possible to find a temperature dependence within 0 to 50 un. Concent 85% C. On the other hand, it was found that the method makes it possible to measure very large doses with an error less than 10%. (TTT)
