The overall relaxation distance for the attainment of the equilibrium degree of dissociation of H/sub 2/ is calculated for shocks with Mach members (M/ sub s/) at 12 to 34 at an initial condition of P/sub 1/ = 0.2 mm Hg and T/sub 1/ = 300 deg K. The results show that at lower M/sub s/ (<22), the reiaxation distance decreases rapidly as M/sub s/ increases. At higher M/sub s/, the relaxation distance varies very iittle with M/sub s/. (J.R.D.)
