THE PHASE RELATIONS IN URANIUM-ALUMINUM-IRON ALLOYS OF THE RANGE PROTION URANIUM-UAl$sub 2$-UFe$sub 2$ (in German)

An investigation was made of the ternary system uranium-aluminum-iron. The phase relations were determined in the uranium-rich portion up to the quasibinary section UFe/sub 2/-UAl/sub 2/. The results are based on investigations by thermoanalysis, chemical and x-ray methods, and microscopy. Typical for the system in the solid state are the extended three phase equilibria. Uranium solid solutions show a limited ternary solubility, but not the intermetallic compounds UAl/sub 2/, U(Fe,Al)/sub 2/, UFe/sub 2/, U/sub 6/Fe. (auth)
