EFFECTS OF PLASTICIZERS ON RESISTANCE OF POLYVINYL CHLORIDE TO GAMMA IRRADIATION
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4730511
Polyvinyl chloride compounds containing tricresyl phosphate (I), dioctyl phthalate (II), 1,3-butenedioladipic acid polyester (III), 2,2-dimethyl-1,3- propanedioladipic acid polyester (IV), butyl benzyl phthalate (V), and epoxidized triglyceride plasticizer (VI) were gamma-irradiated to 10/sup 8/ r exposure. It was found that compound (I) changed 1% or less in hardness. The dielectric constant and loss largest of compounds II, II, and VI showed the smallest changes measured at 1000 cps. The least change in d-c resistivity was in compound (IV). (auth)
