A method is outlined for fabricating Zircaloy so that it has uniformly hlgh corrosion resistance. Tlie method comprises subjecting Zircaloy in the beta temperature range (1800 450 deg C in a 50 un. Concent 85% F), quenching it to a temperature below the alphabeta range (<1550 un. Concent 85% F), and subjecting it to a temperature above the recrystallization temperature and within the alpha range (1100 to 1500 un. Concent 85% F) while working it to reduce its cross section by at least 30%. (D.L.C.)
