GAMMA-RAY SPECTRA FROM THE CAPTURE OF FAST NEUTRONS IN Ni AND Cu

Journal Article · · Arkiv Fysik
OSTI ID:4728689

The gamma rays produced in the capture of thermal and fast neutrons in nickel and copper were studied by means of a NaI scintillation spectrometer. The results show that for both elements the relative intensity of high-energy gamma rays is lower for fast neutrons than for thermal. It was also found that the shape of the gamma -ray spectrum from nickel varies with neutron energy in the range 16 to 300 kev. For copper no such neutron energy dependence was observed. 29 references. (auth)
