THE $sup 40$Ca(p,p') REACTION AT 150 Mev

Measurements are presented of gamma rays in coincidence with protons inelastically scattered from Ca/sup 40/, enabling determination of the states excited in the Ca/sup 40/(p,p') reaction with good energy resolution. It is found that only a few states, the collective excitations of the ground state, are excited. The proton-gamma angular correlation in the excitation of the octupole vibration state at 3.73 Mev was measured. The results are discussed. (auth)
