THE $sup 16$O(p,p') REACTION AT 150 Mev

Measurements are presented of the cross sections for the separate production of the 6.06, 6.14, 6.92 Mev states of O/sup 16/ in the O/sup 16/(p,p') reaction induced by 150-Mev protons. Energy resolution adequate to observe the production of these states separately is obtained by observing coincidences between their de-excitation gamma radiation and the outgoing protons. Angular correlations between the gamma rays and the protons are also measured. The results are discussed to show the information they provide about the 0/sup 16/ nucleus. Some measurements of the 0/sup 16/(p,p alpha ) reaction made at the same time are also presented. (auth)
