A gamma ray scattering experiment was carried out using the reaction Ni(n, gamma ) to produce 8.998 Mev quanta with a flux of 107 per sec per cm2. Scattered gamma rays were detected in a scintillation crystal, and by pulse height analysis the elastic component was separated from the inelastic. The measured scattering cross section is shown for the eiastic scattering in lead and uranium, and the nuclear Thomson plus Rayleigh effect and Delbruck effect are calculated for Pb. (H.D.R.)
