The proposed disposal of radioactive wastes from the Marcoule establishment into the Mediterranean Sea is discussed as well as the general problem of increasing the contamination of the marine envirorrnent from all sources of radionuclides (especially fallout from weapons tests, possible pollution from nuclear-powered ships, and radioisotopes used in marine biological studies).
