COMBINED DEUTERON ACTIVATION AND AUTORADIOGRAPHY OF HISTOLOGICAL SECTIONS

Journal Article · · Acta Isotopica
OSTI ID:4727884
Histological sections were mounted on thin Al foils, carbonized, and irradiated with deuterons in a cyclotron. After a few days the dominating activity was P/sup 32/ arising from the reaction P/sup 31/(d,p)P/sup 32/. Autoradiographs showing the distribution of P/sup 32/ therefore revealed the distribution of naturally occurring P/sup 31/. Analysis was also undertaken on the ovary, spleen, kidney, and brain. The spleen showed the most intense activation localized mainly in the Malpighian bodies. In the ovary, the follicular granulosa was especially activated. The quantitative interpretation and occurrence of artefacts is discussed. (auth)
