ABS>A method is given for preparing radiation-resistant lubricants. The method comprises reacting a halogenated paraffin with 5 to 7 times the theoretical amount: of an aromatic compound required to react with all the; halogen, in the presence of a Friedel-Craft catalyst. The paraffin should have 12 to 30 carbon atoms and contain 15 to 50 wt% halogen and the aromatic compound should have the forgroup of 1 to 5 carbon atoms. After its preparation, the lubricant should be thickened to grease consistency with a nonsoap thickening agent. (D.L.C.)
