The ingestion of irradiated beef and shrimp produced no histopathologic changes that could be attributed to the foods or level of irradiation in dogs, rats, mice, or monkeys. Results are summarized from studies on vitamin K and protein synthesis in animals on the experimental diet, the effects of estrogen, testosterone, or methionine on the incidence of hemorrhagic disease in rats, and carbonyl formation in irradiated meats.
