The lanthanum, europium, and dysprosium contents of two tektites

Journal Article · · Journal of Geophysical Research

The contents of La, Eu, and Dy were determined by neutron activation in a moldavite and an indochinite to be 29, 0.83, 2.8 and 47, 1.5, 5.3 ppm, respectively. When the logarithms of the ratios of these abundances to corresponding bronzite chondrite values are plotted versus atomic number, a pattern is revealed which may be compared with corresponding patterns for four granites and three oceanic basalts. Finally, the tektite pattern resembles the granites more than the oceanic basalts, but the pattern is quantitatively the same for both tektites, in contrast to granites, which tend to be variable.
