ENGINEERING PROPERTIES OF POTASSIUM. Quarterly Report No. 5, October 1- December 31, 1961

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4723430
Activities in a program directed to determining the thermodynamic and transport properties of K at 900 to 2100 un. Concent 85% F are reported. Efforts during the period were devoted mostiy to preparation for research. A stainless steel boiling tube suitable for use at 1500 un. Concent 85% F was prepared and filled with K. In a program to measure the specific heat of liquid K to 2100 un. Concent 85% F raeasurements above 775 un. Concent 85% C are in question because of the K condensing effect inside the closed capsule. In other work, design of a capillary-flowtype viscometer for K vapor measurements at 900 to 2100 un. Concent 85% F was completed. Fabrication of a 1-liter Nb-- Zr bomb for measuring K-vapor compressibility is also reported. (J.R.D.)
