AUTOMATIC MASS SPECTROMETER FOR MONITORING URANIUM ISOTOPE CONCENTRATIONS

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/4723306· OSTI ID:4723306
An automatic recording mass spectrometer has been designed; two instruments have been constructed and have operated reliably for more than seven years as process monitors. Each is fully automatic and capable of making a uranium isotope determination every two and one-half minutes. The results are recorded directly in weight per cent U/sup 235/ with a precision equivalent to that obtained with a manually operated instrument. Provisions have been made to transmit the results to a slave'' recorder and a valve controlling the process. The instruments are of relatively simple circuitry and require no reference standards.
