A subject steps on the grille of the foot stand of this instrument and inserts his hands into the hand taps. Then the degree of contamination of his hands and feet will be automatically counted and indicated: good'' when it is under the permissible level, and bad'' when it is above that level; and in the latter case an alarm is given. The contaminated clothing can be likewise detected by unhooking the clothing probe which is hung in front of the panel and surveying the clothing with it. This hand, foot, and clothing monitor, being an assembly of several all-transistorized plug-in units, is characterized by exceedingly high reliability and extremely small power consumption. (R.J.S.)
