ANGULAR DISTRIBUTIONS OF FAST NEUTRONS SCATTERED ON ALUMINUM

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
Angular distributions for the scattering of 2.76 Mev neutrons by aluminum were studied using nuclear emulsions as detectors. The results for elastic scattering were interpreted in relation to the applicability of the compound nucleus model and of the optical model. The angular distribution of inelastically scattered neutrons resulting in the excitation of two lower nuclear levels was determined. The angular distribution obtained for inelastically scattered neutrons from the 1.013 Mev state is anisotropic and forward peaked, while it is approximately isotropic for the 1.91 Mev state. (auth)
