CORROSION TESTS UTILIZING OMRE COOLANTS
Technical Report

OSTI ID:4721445
The corrosive effects of OMRE coolant samples on type 1020 carbon steel were studied. Testing was conduct to determine comparatively any variance in corrosive characteristics due to differing coolant properties in the samples submitted. All specimens tested, with one exception retained a uniform medium gray surface coloration after exposure. Visual inspection of the specimens produced no evidence of surface deterioration during the exposur period. Weight changes experienced by the carbon steel specimens were small. Also, a bend test showed no indication of embrittlement due to exposure. The results indicate no difference in the corrosivity of the OMRE coolant samples. (P.C.H.)
