Electrical conductivity measurements were performed on Gd{sub 2}(Ti{sub 1- x} Sn{sub x}){sub 2}O{sub 7} pyrochlore as a function of temperature, Po{sub 2} and x. Increasing intrinsic anion disorder was correlated with increases in x, confirming expectations based on the cation radius ratio (r{sub A}/r{sub B}) in A{sub 2}B{sub 2}O{sub 7} pyrochlore compounds. Simultaneously, systematic decreases in oxygen vacancy mobility with increasing x were also observed. An apparent second ionic plateau was found at low Po{sub 2} in Gd{sub 2}(Ti{sub 1-x}Sn{sub x}){sub 2}O{sub 7} (x{le}0.6) which appears to be connected with the reduction of Sn{sup 4+} to Sn{sup 2+}. The variations in ionic carrier density and mobility with composition are discussed in light of appropriate defect models and structural evolution of the lattice.
